After School Activities

Priority registration for PTA members for our winter session is coming next week, starting at 9 am on Thursday, 11/29, and ending at midnight on Friday, 11/30. You must have activated your PTA membership for this school year by noon on 11/28 to participate in priority registration. Don't forget Kindergartners can participate in Winter ASA!

Note - for Chess Club participants, a reminder that enrollment for the 2nd session (starts in February) is part of THIS enrollment session. Also, our cancellation and late registration policies have been updated - please be sure to read the new policies.

Homework Battles Got You Down? Come to Learn Techniques for Helping Your Child Build Study and Organizational Skills!

Friday, November 30, at 8:45 a.m. in the CRS Exploratory Arts Room

Local organization The StudyPro has been invited to share their proven and straightforward techniques for building a growth mindset and executive function (EF) skills. These skills help your child overcome their struggles with homework, and prepare them for middle school, high school and beyond. Information will include specific strategies you can use to bolster EF skills, help your child push through their frustration, and encourage independence.

SCC Event: Fighting Youth Anxiety

The Safe Community Coalition (SCC) is a local not-for-profit organization that provides programs and resources to foster mental wellness and empower our youth to make responsible choices to remain healthy and safe. This year the SCC's theme is anxiety. All of us experience some amount of anxiety – it’s a normal reaction to stress.  But when temporary worries or fears become pervasive and interfere with relationships, schoolwork, and health, anxiety disorders are at play. Anxiety disorders are highly common and highly treatable, yet most who suffer don’t seek assistance.WHO: All parents/adults, as well as students in 6th grade and above
  • WHAT: Free screening of the documentary Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety, followed by a panel discussion and Q & A led by mental health professionals
  • WHERE: McLean High School auditorium
  • WHEN: Thursday, December 6 at 7 p.m. in the McLean High School auditorium

  • Staff Appreciation: The Soup & Salad Bar hosted by 3rd-grade families is right after the Thanksgiving break on Wednesday, November 28. Learn more and sign-up.
  • FCCPTA Education Survey: Share your feedback about CRS, class sizes, technology, curriculum, advanced academics, and special education. The Fairfax County Council PTA has created an online survey to solicit the opinions of parents, students, and FCPS employees. All responses are anonymous. Your responses will guide our planning and activities, so please participate today at
  • FCCPTA Advocacy Day: On Monday 12/3 at Fairfax County Government Center, the FCCPTA presents a unique opportunity for Fairfax County families to learn about the school budget process and share what matters to them. Elected officials from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and the FCPS School Board representing each District have been invited. A light dinner will be available at 6:30 p.m. Learn more and register (free; registration is for space planning).
